Revolver with barrel and cylinder raising itself with extractor of mark GERARD Theophile.

This revolver is with central percussion and extractor collective out of star, simple and double action, with reversed crack. It is equipped with a mobile band with hinge connecting the top of the breech and the top of the cylinder. The bent end of the once opened mobile band acts on the axis and makes leave the star extractor equipped with a return spring.

The only visible mark is MANUFACTURE LIEGEOISE (MANUFACTURE OF LIÈGE), it is acted in fact of Manufacture Liégeoise d’Armes à Feu (Manufacture of Liège of firearms) street of Vertbois, 54 in LIEGE. This company is known to have manufactured GERARD revolvers like others, namely A.FRANCOTTE, Albert SIMONIS and Jules KAUFMANN.

The weapon was a certain success and was lawful in the Brazilian army.

The inventor

Theophile GERARD arms manufacturer in LIEGE deposited 9 patents of 1870 to 1873 including one for the present weapon at knowing a system of gun revolver to automatic extractor deposited the 03.12.1872 pennies the n° of patent 31594 then 27.01.1873 under the n° 31904.
